Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Understanding and support for better youth mental health
Specifically designed to address the mental health needs of young people, this course teaches adults how to understand common challenges, identify symptoms, and confidently & safely intervene for mental health issues in young people.
Why learn Mental Health First Aid?
Active mental health support is especially important for adolescents; it’s a critical period of growth, learning to build social & emotional wellbeing habits as they navigate confusing, challenging and sometimes harmful situations. While population-wide mental wellbeing statistics aren’t too promising with 1 in 5 people reporting a serious mental health issue each year – 75% of all mental health issues are experienced before the age of 25.
The experiences that younger people face can be difficult to understand, and that can make it all the more challenging to have a positive impact when it matters most. While you were a teenager once, everyone walks a unique path through life – not to mention the fast-changing experiences of young people or the leaps and bounds in our insight to youth mental health, you’re likely to have trouble relating.
Youth Mental Health First Aid training is based on up-to-date evidence-based research and the consensus of professionals and the lived experience of people who have endured their own mental health issues. Equipped with vital knowledge, skills and effective action plans to safely intervene before problems become overwhelming, you’ll be able to have a real impact and build a positive environment for the young people in your life.
