SUMMARY:Project 365 Mental Health First Aid Scholarships
DESCRIPTION:The Mental Health Coach is proud to facilitate the Mental Health First Aid training delivered through the Project 365 MHFA Scholarship Program.\nProject 365 is deeply committed to giving back to the community by investing in its mental health. The funds raised through our events\, such as Bringing Light to the Dark\, The Ripple Effect and our recent Gala Dinner\, are channelled directly into providing Mental Health First Aid Scholarships. \nThese scholarships provide the Wangaratta community with a unique opportunity to learn how to recognis and address mental health challenges. By fostering a mentally healthy workplaces and communities\, we aim to build stronger\, more supportive environments where individuals are empowered to help not only their colleagues but also their clients\, friends\, and families. \nThis initiative reflects our belief that mental health care should be a community effort. Through these scholarships\, we’re not only helping businesses take care of their teams but also ensuring that the ripple effect of support reaches the entire community. Together\, we can create a healthier community. \nCourse Dates: 8th and 9th of December\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Approximately 20% of Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year. Completing a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Course will help you to develop the skills to support a friend\, family member or co-worker. \nIn this informative and practical course\, you will learn about the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in adults\, how to provide initial help\, where and how to get professional help\, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective\, and how to provide mental health first aid in a crisis situation using a practical\, evidence-based action plan. \nMental health first aid skills learnt by participants in this course can be applied in any setting. \nCourse content includes case-studies\, videos and resources tailored to the learning needs of community/public course participants. \nMental Health First Aid Training Can Make a Difference\nResearch has shown that MHFA training is associated with: \n\nKnowledge: improved knowledge of mental illnesses\, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies. \nConfidence: confidence in providing first aid to a person experiencing a mental health problem. \nDe-Stigmatising: decreases in stigmatising attitudes. \nIncreased Support: increases in the amount and type of support provided to others. \nLearn how you can assist someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis and make a real difference to your community. \n\n\n\nWhat does this course offer?\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course covers common and disabling mental health problems and crisis situations. Participants learn how to apply mental health first aid to adults across a range of situations\, including: \n\n\nDepression\nAnxiety\nPsychosis\nSubstance use problems\nSuicidal thoughts and behaviours\nPanic attacks\nNon-suicidal self-injury\nTraumatic events\n\nUpon completion of this course participants will be able to:\n\nRecognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults\,\nUse an evidence-based action plan to initiate a mental health first aid conversation\,\nKnow the barriers to help-seeking and how to overcome these\,\nAssess for a range of crisis situations and provide initial support\,\nUnderstand the prevalence and impact of mental illnesses\, risk factors and treatments and supports available\,\nApply self-care practices as a Mental Health First Aider.\n\n\n\n\nCourse Structure\nIn this program\, you’ll undertake an eLearning component first (approximately 6 hours of effort)\, then attend two 3-hour Zoom sessions. \nWe conduct both of these sessions on the same day – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This means you’ll complete all the zoom components in a single day. \nParticipants can also complete the short assessment at the end of a course to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider). You can read more about the SafeTALK program here. \nFor over three years\, we have delivered contextualised programs specifically designed to support the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people. \nUnderstanding the principles of suicide intervention is paramount in today’s society\, where mental health challenges and the risk of suicide are pervasive. By learning about suicide intervention\, you gain the knowledge and skills to recognise warning signs\, engage in open and empathetic conversations\, and guide those in crisis towards professional support. You can read more about the content of the program here. \nThis program is not only about saving lives but also about fostering a culture of empathy\, understanding\, and mental wellness. Through suicide intervention training\, people become advocates for destigmatising mental health challenges and creating a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable seeking help and support. \nGain the skills and confidence to recognise and respond to individuals at risk\, ultimately making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. \nEntry to the program \nEntry to the program is via an expression of interest process. The Standard Refresher course is available to current and accredited MHFAiders who completed the following courses: \n\nStandard MHFA\nOlder Person MHFA\nBlended/Online Community or Workplace\nFinancial Services\, Legal Professionals or Pharmacy MHFA\nTertiary\n\nParticipants will need to provide a copy of their Certificate of Accreditation to the Instructor prior to the training. By learning about suicide intervention\, you gain the knowledge and skills to recognise warning signs\, engage in open and empathetic conversations\, and guide those in crisis towards professional support. The Standard Refresher course is available to current and accredited MHFAiders who completed the following courses: \n\nStandard MHFA\nOlder Person MHFA\nBlended/Online Community or Workplace\nFinancial Services\, Legal Professionals or Pharmacy MHFA\nTertiary\n\nParticipants will need to provide a copy of their Certificate of Accreditation to the Instructor prior to the training. You can access a copy via your Mental Health First Aid Account. \nParticipants who have last attended a Refresher Course will need to attend a full course as per the accreditation pathway. \n*Those who completed the original course more than three years ago may be granted an extension from MHFA Australia. DESCRIPTION:​Do you want to  feel more confident to help someone who might be experiencing a mental health problem? \n​Do you want your team to have a solid introduction to mental health\, and to feel confident to support one another in the workplace? \n​If you answered ‘yes’ to either of these questions\, then this workshop is for you or your workplace. \n​The incidence of mental health problems in Australia\, and around the world\, is already high\, but after COVID19\, we are seeing a spike in people experiencing mental health problems right now\, and will continue to over the next 12-24 months. \n​One in five Australians will experience a mental health issue in any given year and 75% of people between the ages of 16 and 86 will experience a mental health issue in their lifetime. \n​This means that 20% of our friends\, family\, staff\, colleagues and people around us will experience a mental health issue this year. \n​And if you have young people in your life or your workplace\, the prevalence is higher. SUMMARY:Mental Health Essentials
DESCRIPTION:​Do you want to  feel more confident to help someone who might be experiencing a mental health problem? \n​Do you want your team to have a solid introduction to mental health\, and to feel confident to support one another in the workplace? \n​If you answered ‘yes’ to either of these questions\, then this workshop is for you or your workplace. \n​The incidence of mental health problems in Australia\, and around the world\, is already high\, but after COVID19\, we are seeing a spike in people experiencing mental health problems right now\, and will continue to over the next 12-24 months. \n​One in five Australians will experience a mental health issue in any given year and 75% of people between the ages of 16 and 86 will experience a mental health issue in their lifetime. \n​This means that 20% of our friends\, family\, staff\, colleagues and people around us will experience a mental health issue this year. \n​And if you have young people in your life or your workplace\, the prevalence is higher. Did you know that the average onset age for Anxiety is 15 years old? \n​Most people say they don’t know how to help when they think it might be necessary\, but the skills are easy to learn. \n​Mental Health issues affect a persons life in many ways\, from very subtly\, to life changing affects.  But\, with some basic knowledge and a set of skills behind us\, we can confidently and competently assist someone when they experience a mental health issue. \n​What we’ll cover\n​In this workshop\, we take a look at mental health in some detail\, and introduce to you some easy ways to build your skills in the area of mental health. \n​We’ll look at…\n​What mental health is \n\n​The mental health continuum\n​Some facts and stats about mental health in Australia\n​When you should be concerned about a persons mental health\n​Two of the most common mental health problems – and how to spot them\n​How mental health issues affect how people learn and work – and what to do about it\n​How to have a conversation with someone about their mental health.\n​The Mental Health First Aid course\n\n​This workshop is suitable for everyone – you don’t need to know anything about Mental Health to get a lot out of it. \n​Workshop outcomes \n\nGain confidence in mental health awareness\nGain skills to apply in all facets of your life – home\, work and in the community\nGive your team evidence based skills and tools to support one another\nIncreased wellbeing\nIncreased empathy and understanding for those around you who experience mental health issues\n​Demonstrate that your organisation has taken steps to support it’s people’s mental health and wellbeing
