SUMMARY:The Working Mind
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that 3 in 5 employees report experiencing burnout\, and 1 in 5 Australians face a mental health problem each year?Workplaces can play a significant role in our overall well-being\, acting as either a protective factor or a significant source of stress.\n\n\n\nThe Working Mind (TWM) is an evidence-based training program designed to initiate a fundamental shift in how you think\, feel\, and act regarding mental health. Developed by Opening Minds and the Mental Health Commission of Canada\, this globally recognised program is now empowering Australian workplaces to prioritise mental well-being\, foster open dialogue\, and build supportive\, inclusive culture.\n\n\nWhy Enroll in The Working Mind?\nThis course goes beyond basic awareness by equipping you with practical\, everyday tools to navigate stress and support those around you. Throughout the training\, you will apply the RAMP framework—Reflection\, Awareness\, Movement\, and Practice—to bridge the gap between knowing about mental health and actively taking steps to improve it.\n\nWhat You Will Learn:\n\nThe Mental Health Continuum Tool: Move away from thinking of mental health as simply “good” or “bad.” You will learn to use a practical\, colour-coded scale (Healthy\, Reacting\, Injured\, Ill) to monitor changes in your own well-being and recognise when to take early action before issues escalate.\nReduce Stigma and Barriers to Care: Examine the real impacts of stigma and learn how to use person-first\, respectful language to create a judgment-free environment where people feel safe asking for help.\nBuild Resilience with “The Big 4”: Stress is a fact of life\, but you can learn to adapt and “bounce back” from adversity. You will practice four proven coping strategies: Deep Breathing\, Positive Self-Talk\, Mental Rehearsal\, and Goal Setting.\nSupport Your Team (Managers Add-On Only): Understand your vital role in addressing workplace psychological health. Managers will learn how to initiate healthy conversations\, support employees returning to work\, and use the Ad Hoc Incident Review (AIR) model to guide teams through crisis situations.\n\nCourse Options to Fit Your Needs\nThe Working Mind offers a flexible\, interactive format tailored to different roles in your organisation:\n\nEmployee Course (5 hours): Focuses on increasing self-awareness\, managing personal stress\, and learning how to support co-workers.\nManager/Leader Course (8 hours): Includes all foundational employee content\, plus an exclusive module empowering leaders to champion mentally healthy workplaces and actively support their teams.\n\n\nWhether you want to strengthen your own resilience\, reduce stigma in your community\, or become a catalyst for culture change across your organisation\, The Working Mind gives you the skills to make a difference.\n\n\nDelivered by Qualified Professionals\nAt The Mental Health Coach\, we know that the quality of training depends on the expertise of those delivering it. That’s why our Mental Health First Aid courses are led by experienced facilitators with professional backgrounds in: \n\n\nMental health and counselling – bringing real-world understanding of the challenges individuals face. \n\n\nWorkplace wellbeing and psychological safety – ensuring the content is practical and directly relevant to organisational contexts. \n\n\nLeadership and people management – helping managers and HR leaders apply their learning to everyday situations with their teams. \n\n\nOur facilitators are accredited Mental Health First Aid and The Working Mind Instructors who combine evidence-based knowledge with years of experience supporting people in both clinical and workplace settings. This means participants don’t just learn theory — they gain insights\, tools\, and strategies that work in the real world. \nWhen your leaders and teams train with us\, they’re learning from professionals who understand the unique pressures of today’s workplaces and who are committed to helping organisations create cultures where people can thrive. \n\n\nFAQ\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Mental Health Coach can offer this or other tailored courses for your organisation’s needs. If you have a group of 10 or more participants\, we can come to you or run an online session for you. For further information\, get in touch with us.
